Read this amazing op-ed in the Athens Banner-Herald written by Dr. Ruth Cline, a local OB-GYN. She does an amazing job of breaking down the various problems HB 954 presents for the medical community AND its patients: mother, baby, and fetus alike.

You can also watch her in our video asking one of the bill’s sponsors, Rep. Doug McKillip, a tough question, and getting a typically insufficient answer. Don’t worry, he gets put in his place in the end by our great friend & ally, Chris. McKillip gets caught distorting numbers while defending HB954

Rep. McKillip gets caught distorting numbers while defending HB954:
“One woman quoted statistics that 73 percent of abortions are because the mother doesn’t have enough money to raise the child, and only 1.3 percent occur after 20 weeks, the limit imposed by McKillip’s bill. She asked why legislators didn’t do more to help mothers afford to keep their babies.

McKillip claimed that “hundreds” of late-term abortions are performed in Georgia from the eighth month of pregnancy up to the day before delivery, “convenience abortions, many of them,” even though the current law bans most abortions after 26 weeks.

“It has loopholes in it that make it wide open,” he said.

He later provided figures from the state Department of Community Health showing that 1,281 abortions were performed after 20 weeks in 2009, but only 22 after the 32nd week of pregnancy.”

That “one woman”? ROR’s very own Kendra! Good work!

Notes from a revolution.

Notes from a revolution.

Meet Beth!

Meet Beth!

Meet Kendra!

Meet Kendra!

First planning meeting is in session!

First planning meeting is in session!
